After graduating from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, and working for several years in another practice, Dr. Amira May Woodruff (also known as Dr. May) and Dr. Warren E. Woodruff (also known as Dr. Warren) decided there was no place they’d rather open their own dental practice than West Bloomfield. This married couple is honored to serve the residents of Michigan with exceptional care.
Dr. Warren received his DDS degree from the University of Michigan. He also completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, where he majored in Psychology and minored in Afroamerican and African Studies, in addition to his pre-dental studies. During his final year of dental school, Dr. Warren completed a two-week dental mission trip in Kenya, where he provided dental care to over 600 children and adults. He also served on the National Executive Board of the Student National Dental Association while in dental school. Dr. Warren believes that one should never stop learning. He frequently takes continuing education courses to stay up to date with the latest technology and advances in the field of dentistry.
Dr. Warren is a strong believer in mentorship and dental outreach. He has volunteered at dental clinics and career days at various local schools and health fairs. He also mentors underrepresented minorities with aspirations of entering the dental profession.
Dr. Warren has many interests outside of dentistry. They include traveling, technology, video editing, movies, home design, photography, and basketball. He is an avid sports fan of all of the Detroit sports teams and the University of Michigan football and basketball teams. Dr. Warren was raised in West Bloomfield and attended West Bloomfield High School, where his ambition, competitiveness and scholastic achievement were evident. He was captain of the varsity basketball team and earned numerous scholar-athlete honors. He is a member of Empowerment Church in Southfield, Michigan. He also loves spending time with his wife (Dr. May), their daughter (Wesli), their goldendoodle (Quincy), family and friends.
Dr. Warren’s calming chairside manner makes him able to connect with his patients on a personal level. He takes time to explain his recommended treatment options and treats all of his patients like they are his family.
Dr. May earned her DDS degree from the University of Michigan. This was after completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, while completing her pre-dental studies, also at the University of Michigan. During her third and fourth years of dental school she was selected by faculty to serve as a pre-clinic and dental anatomy tutor for the first and second year students.
During her third year of dental school, Dr. May traveled to Jamaica to participate in an outreach program through Health Care International where she provided free dental care for one week to hundreds of people in need, mostly children. Upon graduation, she received the Russell W. Bunting Periodontal Study Club Award for outstanding proficiency in clinical periodontics.
Dr. May participates in several local mentorship, volunteer, and outreach programs. She enjoys taking continuing education courses to stay up to date with the latest technology and advances in the field of dentistry. In addition, Dr. May has many interests outside of dentistry, including acting. So if you see someone on TV who looks like her, it indeed may be her! She is also a member of Empowerment Church in Southfield, Michigan. Most of all she loves spending time with her husband (Dr. Warren), their daughter (Wesli), family, friends, and goldendoodle (Quincy).
Dr. May prides herself on her chairside manner and gentle touch. She truly enjoys practicing dentistry as it perfectly blends her love of science, art, and psychology.
